چکیده

Deviations from thermodynamic equilibrium are of fundamental importance in the early universe. The examples are plentiful, for example the freeze-out of photon thermodynamic equilibrium due to hydrogen recombination [1] or the equivalent freeze-out of neutrinos slightly prior to electron-positron annihilation [2]. These phenomena have been investigated many times in the literature, but almost always in the context of deviations from chemical equilibrium, that is, kinetic or scattering equilibrium is assumed to hold at all times. In the limit of Boltzmann statistics the single particle distribution then takes the form

We investigate the possible effect of the residual annihilations of heavy particles after freeze-out from equilibrium in the early universe. An error in previous work on this subject is pointed out and the correct method of solving the Boltzmann equation for this case is developed. For Majorana particles there are significant differences relative to previous work. PACS: 98.80.Cq, 95.35.+d, 95.3...

Evidence for QGP in Pb – Pb 158

The hadronic particle production data from relativistic nuclear Pb–Pb 158 A GeV collisions are successfully described within the chemical non-equilibrium model, provided that the analysis does not include Ω and Ω abundances. We show that there is a subtle influence of the Coulomb potential on strange quarks in quark matter which is also seen in our data analysis, and this Coulomb effect confirm...

Chemical non-equilibrium and deconfinement in 200 A GeV Sulphur induced reactions

We interpret hadronic particle abundances produced in S–Au/W/Pb 200 A GeV reactions in terms of the final state hadronic phase space model and determine by a data fit of the chemical hadron freeze-out parameters. Allowing for the flavor abundance non-equilibrium a highly significant fit to experimental particle abundance data emerges, which supports possibility of strangeness distillation. We f...

Statistical Hadronization Phenomenology in Heavy Ion Collisions at Sps and Rhic Energies

This dissertation examines the phenomenology of statistical hadronization at ultrarelativistic energies. We start with an overview of current experimental and theoretical issues in Relativistic heavy ion physics. We then introduce statistical hadronization, and show how it gives a description of particle abundances and spectra through relativistic covariance and entropy maximization. We argue t...

Particle production in central S-A collisions at 200 GeV/A energy is analysed within a thermal model. Present data imply that the strange particles freeze out at a higher temperature than the non-strange particles and that the strangeness saturation is incomplete. Introduction: A significant enhancement of strange particle production has been observed in high energy heavy ion collisions in comp...
